CIPS Level 5

This level takes a closer look at the operational side of procurement. It’s a step up in content from level 4, but builds on what you’ve already learned.

CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma in procurement and supply

Designed to give you the knowledge and skills needed to take your learning and career to the next level, CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma is ideal for those currently working in a senior or management role. This course formalises students skills, develops professional status, and is the next step in obtaining MCIPS.

On completion of this level you can expect to improve your overall organisational procurement and supply performance to fulfil your organisational objectives.

Is CIPS Level 5 right for me?

This level is aimed both at people who are looking to built upon existing skills in the field, and those looking to move to the next step in their careers.

You’ll need to have achieved the CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply.

CIPS Compulsory Modules

  • * Understand, analyse and apply management and organisational approaches
    * Understand and apply approaches to managing individuals involved in the procurement and supply function
    * Understand and apply approaches to managing work groups or teams involved in the procurement and supply function
    * Understand and apply planning approaches for aspects of human resource management for the procurement and supply function
    * Understand the application of the individual capabilities required to manage the procurement and supply function.

  • * Understand the nature of risk affecting supply chains
    * Understand processes in managing risk in supply chains
    * Understand risk mitigation strategies in supply chains

  • * Understand the legal and process issues relating to the formation of contracts
    * Understand the impacts of breach of contract and coping strategies and provisions that are available
    * Understand the legal implications of contractual nonconformance in procurement and supply

  • * Understand and apply tools and techniques that can be used to measure and develop contract performance in procurement and supply
    * Understand and apply the concept of strategic sourcing
    * Understand and apply financial techniques that affect supply chains
    * Analyse and apply financial and performance measures that can affect the supply chain.

  • * Understand the impact of ethics and sustainability in supply chains
    * Understand the importance of compliance with standards to achieve ethical and sustainable supply chains
    * Understand initiatives and standards to improve ethical and sustainable practices in procurement and supply

    *Understand approaches to the planning and management of projects and change initiatives

  • *Understand the concept and scope of operations management

    *Understand improvement methodologies that can be applied in operations management

  • * Understand the concept of logistics management
    * Understand capacity planning and control in logistics management

    * Understand the key stages which impact on the negotiation process and outcomes
    * Understand negotiation relationships and ethics
    * Understand methods and behavioural factors which can influence others

CIPS Level 5 Exams

CIPS Level 5 is assessed with 2 x 3 hour essay exams, and 6 x 1.5 hour multichoice exams. Exams are held 5 times a year and are available it lots of locations or online if you prefer.

  • We want to make that anyone who wants to study with us, can do. • Direct company funded students can pay in full, or in 2 or 4 split payments.• Self-funding students can spread the fees over 10 instalments.• Apprenticeship funding is also available for anyone living in England, which will cover the fees for the whole course.

  • To enrol with us, just get in touch! When you drop us an email at cips@abaprocurement.com we’ll make sure you’re on the course that will work best for you, then send you over the enrolment form. We don’t do anonymous online signup – you’re not a robot (hopefully), and neither are we.

  • Once you complete CIPS Level 5, you can move on to CIPS Level 6! It’ll be your final level before you reach MCIPS.

  • That depends on which of our study formats you choose. Our CIPS Evening Course and CIPS Bespoke course options mean your days and times will vary, so check out their pages for more information.

  • Exams are held 5 times a year in March, May, July, September, and November and are available in physical exam centres or online.
